The capsules can help configure your own steps towards supporting initiative groups and community foundations.

Each capsule has around 20 anchor points covering a variety of topics – from the opportunities that community foundations have to be organizations for the future, to their unique roles within their local development ecosystems.

Designed for community foundations in new local contexts, where there is limited experience with this organizational form, but there is interest to explore. The capsule includes examples from different local contexts and also offers distinctions between community foundations and other organizations in the development ecosystem, highlighting their fund development and grant-making roles.

Looking to build a strong practice in catalyzing a movement of local philanthropy? Capsule 3 shows paths to ignite and support new movements to grow. CF support organizations are community foundations’ first national-level allies. They find and connect with local and national leaders invested in that shared vision. They support the supporters by creating a map for this adventure, from initial idea to a vision of change.
