COLLABORATIVE LEARNING SPACES

We create and contribute to collaborative learning spaces that expand the reach and impact of community and institutional philanthropy.

These spaces boost philanthropy’s capacity to imagine, influence and respond to the future in inclusive and (re)generative ways.

FORWARD LOOKING PHILANTHROPY INFRASTRUCTURE

We promote forward-focused philanthropy infrastructure able to catalyze systemic responses, assets and collective commitments in distributed ways.

This role supports philanthropy and civil society to act on opportunities for future generations and address the interconnected challenges of our times.

We care about

helping more people, in more places around the world, become creative changemakers.

people willing to reimagine
what is no longer working for them, their communities, the planet.

enabling people to build catalyst infrastructure.

cultivating a forward-focused philanthropy.

connecting organizations to incentivize new ideas and nurture environments of participation and co-creation.

acting as structures that multiply assets, actors and capacities.

We partner with practitioners, supporters and funders of community foundations and philanthropy infrastructure
to imagine, design and build new catalyst infrastructures able to spark and sustain creative, participatory and regenerative futures.
Our programs

Architects of Change

How can you seed and grow a movement of transformative community foundations in your country? How do you innovate as a sector to be one step ahead of the curve?

Learn alongside international peers. Design, experiment and share your knowledge with practitioners from Africa, the Americas, Europe and Oceania.

With the support of the C.S. Mott Foundation.

Catalyst Infrastructure

What if philanthropy supporters could help massively multiply the capacities of their sectors by activating latent possibilities? What if we learn new skills for new times as infrastructure?

What if we support connected ecosystems to generate knowledge from practice, and return it, to grow the catalytic aspects of our work?

In partnership with Philea.

Generosity for the Future

What are different ways to get people interested and capable of supporting their communities over the long term? How can community foundations use their experience to seed new philanthropic and civic engagement in neighbouring geographies?

An experimental approach by the Iasi, Timisoara and Valcea community foundations, with our support in surfacing and sharing knowledge.

Powered by the Romanian-American Foundation.

Where do we work?

INTERNATIONAL

We connect practitioners working to stimulate the emergence of new infrastructure for philanthropy, as community foundations, in countries in Africa, Europe and Latin America.

In spaces as Architects of Change, IF and Thinkfrastructure conferences.

REGIONAL

We partner with continent-wide networks to contribute to sense-making, peer learning and cross-regional field-building, making the case for forward-focused philanthropy infrastructure.

With partners as CIAF, ECFI, Philea/PEX, iac Berlin.

NATIONAL

We inspire country-focused support organizations who are incubating local philanthropy organizations with movement-building practice and examples from resonant contexts.

In spaces as Architects of Change Fellowship, Generosity for the Future, mentoring and consulting for CF supporters.

LOCAL

We host learning experiences for local philanthropy initiatives and organizations, like community foundations, on core practices like fund development, grantmaking, governance.

In spaces as Generosity for the Future, workshops, study visits, consulting, mentorship.

Our partners also include global and national ecosystem funders, as the C.S. Mott Foundation and the Romanian American Foundation, as well as international philanthropy support infrastructure, as WINGS and Philea.

How do we work?
Communities

Practitioners are our core partners in thinking – and building knowledge – and doing – experiments of new practice.

We host and contribute to explorations of novel roles, patterns and practices as philanthropy infrastructure that is effective at multiplying and distributing the capacity for action and innovation.

Knowledge

We distill insights from practitioners’ experience, bring in possibilities and provocations from emergent fields and co-create actionable knowledge.

We curate an open access library with articles, guides and research developed by our team, our partners, and other inspiring players in philanthropy.

Experiments

Testing new ideas and theories of change in practice is vital for learning in our contexts of increasing uncertainty.

We facilitate the design of experiments based on assets, emerging opportunities and systemic principles.
