Who is IF for?

Infrastructures for the Future (IF) is a global gathering of community foundation support organizations (CFSO) and their allies.

It brings together practitioners leading national and regional CFSO working in Africa, the Americas, Europe and Oceania, as well as allies from the philanthropy and development sectors.

Why Infrastructure?

Infrastructure because

Institutions we have taken for granted are fighting crises of trust, capacity and vision. Can we cultivate new collective and connected infrastructures – in our communities, our countries and our planet? Community foundations, and their supporters, can be catalysts and nurturers of the new.

Why futures?

Futures because

We need new mindsets and new ways of relating and activating people and potentials. In times of deep disturbance, we can support experiments and alternatives that expand our imagination and anchor a sense of hope. Futures – plural – also because our horizons go beyond this generation, acknowledging we are part of a much larger arch of stewardship and interdependence.

WEAVING CONNECTIONS

across an exciting diversity of community foundation movements, learning from different histories, approaches and aspirations.

DEVELOPING A SHARED UNDERSTANDING

of the state of the field and cultivating an international perspective on the opportunities for community foundations.

EXPLORING SYNERGIES

between movements and surfacing new possibilities to advance the field, enabled by practitioner-to-practitioner connectedness.

We see this as a gathering of peers.

IF is intentionally co-created to make room for mutual recognition, support and collaboration.

To design the two-day gathering, we will steward the creation of several thematic groups and an advisory council.

The areas of focus will be co-designed by the advisory group, and the core questions and references from practice will be co-developed by the thematic groups.
